SES-V2 Robot Arms

Imagine it. Built it. Control it.

SES-V2 ROBOT ARMS DETAILS

Lynxmotion’s 6th generation of robotic arms are perfect for education, development and hobby use and are designed around the fully configurable Lynxmotion Smart Servo motors. The custom LSS communication protocol is human readable, uses full duplex (dedicated Tx and Rx lines) and selectable baud rates. Optimize the motion of the arm by changing the properties of each servo; from setting a maximum speed to the angular acceleration, holding stiffness and more. Each servo can be queried for a wide variety of real-time values and include sensor feedback from the absolute encoder (position, speed and more), current, voltage and temperature.

The four degree of freedom (4 DoF) articulated robotic arm uses Lynxmotion’s Servo Erector Set (SES v2) modular construction system. This versatile setup facilitates customization and expansion for applications by adding additional brackets, electronics, sensors and more. Adding additional degrees of freedom or changing the gripper is straightforward and easy. Although well suited for use on a desk for development and experimentation, the 4DoF arm is easily fitted on a mobile robot and powered using a 3S (11.1V) LiPo battery (sold separately) with XT60 connector. The included LSS Adapter electronics board makes connecting to an Arduino shield compatible board, Raspberry Pi, XBee or other serial device easy.

The Lynxmotion (LSS) – 3 DoF Robotic Arm (Kit) was designed to be an inexpensive yet highly versatile robotic arm using the fully configurable Lynxmotion Smart Servo (LSS) actuators. The four-bar mechanical design ensures the end effector remains parallel to the surface, and offloads much of the weight of the joints onto the base. Combined with the Lynxmotion conveyor system (sold separately), a tabletop assembly system can be created within a few hours.

SMART SERVO MOTORS

Modular, versatile and high quality servos

Lynxmotion’s new lineup of smart servo motors use a human readable communication protocol to send action commands, query servo values and change configurations. All three servos use the same case which includes many mounting points, an LED bar and button input and were designed from the ground up for use in complex robots.

EDUCATION & RESEARCH

High schools, colleges, researchers and hobbyists

Intended for tabletop use, or mounted on a mobile robot, these small modular robot arms offer the flexibility and upgradability needed for most projects. Create a small assembly line using the conveyor,  use it to learn how to program or even play chess; the potential applications are almost endless. Easily connect and integrate third party sensors and products to suit your application.

QUALITY PARTS

Durable yet lightweight metals and composites

Most parts used in the arms are made from either black anodized aluminum, durable G10 composite or black carbon fiber. All hardware is metal. The smart servo case, which is intended to be part of the structure, is anodized aluminum and all servos use metal gears with a dual ball bearing supported output shaft.
